Student Recent Graduate Education Partner

Full-time enrollment in interior design or related program, unoffical transcript or current schedule

Recent graduate of up to 2 years who is working as an interior designer

Designer membership levels & requirements

PROFESSIONAL

Annual membership dues: $350 (plus a one-time $50 application fee)

Providing the highest level of membership offered by IDS for designers. Includes free listing on The IDS List website. All Professional members must complete 0.4 CEUs (4 hours) per calendar year. Applicants must have one of the following to qualify:

  • Certification with a nationally recognized interior design exam OR
  • A six-year degree in interior design OR
  • A four or five—year degree in interior design or design-related field*, plus two years of full-time practical design experience OR
  • A three-year degree in interior design or design-related field*, plus three years of full-time practical design experience OR
  • A two-year degree in interior design or design-related field*, plus four years of full-time practical interior design experience.

*Design-related field includes: Art, architecture, etc. (please contact IDS National office for verification)

Required documentation:

  • Photocopy of business license or tax ID if self-employed
  • Photocopy of diploma for interior design or related field

ASSOCIATE

Annual membership dues: $275 (plus a one-time $50 application fee)

For individuals who currently work full-time in interior design or a closely affiliated occupation. Includes free listing on The IDS List website.

Required documentation:

  • Photocopy of business license or tax ID if self-employed

Design firm membership

If you have over 3 designer members on staff at your design firm, you are eligible for firm membership. Each IDS member after your first 3 will receive 20% off their IDS membership. This applies to both Associate and Professional membership.
